Yorkshire Screenwriters

2nd Thursdays, 6.30pm

Outlaws Yacht Club, New York Street, Leeds

Every opera singer will tell you you need another pair of ears you can trust…

It’s a truism that even the most seasoned performers still go back to the teacher they’ve been with for years to get that extra development, day-by-day, year-by-year. And just as a singer can’t actually hear their voice as others do, we screenwriters need that considered external input to help define our voice.

Yorkshire Screenwriters is a monthly development group meeting in Leeds, bringing together talented screenwriters and developers in the region to share considered feedback on work in progress. We meet on the Third Thursday each month, at 6.30pm at Outlaws Yacht Club, New York Street, Leeds.

There’s no fee to attend, but all members are asked to submit at least one short script or treatment every six months for group feedback, and to have had at least one piece of writing produced at any level. At each meeting we share a screenwriting task or tool for experimentation before the next meeting, along with occasional masterclasses or events with industry professionals through the year.

Meetings will focus on one or two submitted scripts, shared in advance, with each member allotted time to give constructive feedback. This is a meeting of minds and friends, and we maintain a supportive, friendly approach to development, as well as valuing the opportunity to network and socialise.
